Not Wings

Poetry by Sonja Nelson

Descriptive image of paper heart.

Not wings,
just two halves of some forgotten heart
that can only fly in the singular.

Sonja Nelson is 27 years old and currently resides in Pacific Grove, California. She has a rare condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and is on a break from work/school, which gives her lots of time to write. She is passionate about astrophysics, neuroscience, psychology, and poetry, as well as learning to become an advocate for others with rare diseases. She has been published before in Amaryllis, and in the poetry magazine Teen Ink, as a teenager.
